Where's the Hammock?

8 x 10 oil on stretched canvas

Although summer is here is upstate NY, it's never too late to dream of the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. This scene is from a quiet beach in the Grenadines, and seems to beg you to take a walk, or a seat, or a nap. The blues are so relaxing that we just painted our bedroom a similar color in anticipation of a quietly sleeping new baby.

Day Dreaming

16 x 20 oil on stretched canvas

To Purchase visit my Etsy store

This painting makes me want to grab a book and some shade under the nearest tree. For both the leaves and the bark I used heavy paint with several layers and drying time in between to help achieve a feeling of depth.

Birch Trees #2

6 x 8 oil on wood panel
NFS

I miss all the colors of autumn and decided to indulge myself with another birch tree painting. This painting is also fresh and relaxing after a rather stressful few days involving my son chipping off most of his top two teeth. Oh how I wish I could sit in this quiet little grove of trees.

Palm Tree

8 x 10 oil on stretched linen

I am currently working on a couple paintings - all of which are based on warmer locations. Perhaps the late January rain and the left over snow is reminding me of time spent in warmer climates.

Birch Trees

8 x 10 oil on stretched canvas
NFS

These trees were all about the light and shadows and of course happy memories of the fall.
